Readers help James avoid pauper's grave
Press Relief helped to bring a happy ending to a sad story featured in the paper.
The story reported how there was no money to pay for the funeral of Cambridge homeless man, James Ulysses Bond - and that a city office worker, Mick Lazaurs, had stumped up the money himself to prevent Mr Bond going to a pauper's grave.
Readers of the News came to the rescue and donations flooded in, to the tune of more than £2000 - and Press Relief chipped in too.

Bridge the Gap 2007
The 6th Bridge the Gap Charity Walk took place on 9th September 2007, starting from Jesus Green, Cambridge. The walk, now an established event in the Cambridge calendar, took walkers on a 4.5 mile trek around some of the city's most beautiful colleges. Sponsored by Cambridge University Press, the University of Cambridge and Cambridge Evening News, this fantastic event raised £30,000 which was shared equally between Press Relief, The Arthur Rank Hospice Charity and East Anglian Air Ambulance.
In the Mood Charity Ball raises £20,000
Last year's Press Ball was held in the dramatic setting of the Duxford Imperial War Museum's American Hanger. Held on 10th November 2007, the event had a glamourous 1940s theme and was attended by Honeysuckle Weeks, star of ITV's Foyles War. Sponsored by Cambridge Building Society, the event brought in £20,000 for Press Relief and the Teenage Cancer Trust.
